The rules are not much different from standard comm rules and the first rules made by the community's founder,
simmysim
What You Need To Know
First and foremost, this is a bottom!Draco community; ergo, this is a community created in support of Draco Malfoy as the "Bottom" in his relationships/hookups with (mostly) male characters. In short, this comm is mostly geared towards M/M Bottom!Draco. However, that does not mean Het!Bottom!Draco content is banned - only that they will need to be reviewed by the mods on a case-by-case basis before posting them here.
Therefore, any promotion of fan-works (within this community) in which Draco is not part of the main pairing or in which he exclusively "Tops" his male love interest will NOT be tolerated. Please understand that to the majority of the members in this comm, “Top!Draco” is a major squick.
Fan-works that have Draco "Switching" are fine so as long as they predominantly feature Draco as the "Bottom" in most, if not all of his bedroom activities and a warning/label for "Switching" is stated CLEARLY by the reccer or the owner of the fan-work. (Please check the Bottom!Draco FAQ page for more info).
No one should ever have to indicate in all posts/comments that they are interested in/looking for a Bottom!Draco recommendation. For that reason alone, the mods of this community expressly implore that you CHECK and DOUBLE CHECK all fan-works before posting them to this community.
Submissive!Draco fan-works are also welcome in this community.
♥ You should also know that:
We, the mods of
bottom_draco interpret the term "Bottom" literally as Draco being the receptive partner (the one being penetrated) in his relationships/bedroom activities with his partner - NOT as a determinant (or stereotype) of submissive/passive/effeminate behavior. But should you want to equate the term "Bottom" to being submissive/passive/effeminate, that is perfectly fine too.
What does "Top/Bottom" mean?
"Top" - The insertive partner in a (male/male) sexual act (i.e. the partner who does the penetration - the one who penetrates the other).
"Bottom" - The partner who adopts the receptive role in a (male/male) sexual act (i.e. the partner who is penetrated).
"Switching" - The act of alternating between "Topping" and "Bottoming". Therefore, fanfiction featuring Draco who trade positions of both "Topping" and "Bottoming" during sexual activities are termed "Switching!Fics"
The term "Topping/Bottoming" in this comm is interpreted as a sexual practice only - NOT as a determinant (or stereotype) of sexual dominance/submissiveness behavior. But should you want to equate the term "Topping/Bottoming" to specific sexual dominance/submissiveness behavior in a character - specifically Draco (as the submissive) because this is a Draco-centric comm after all - that is absolutely fine.
The Rule of Common Sense and Social Niceties
1. Be nice! NO Flaming, or overt bashing of pairings, kinks or other members/communities
2. NO bashing or questioning of other people's preference to "Top!Draco"
(NO. You will not start discussion threads by asking "Why Top!Draco when it's obvious he's a Bottom?!" nor will you be permitted to bash “Bottom!Harry”. Volatile discussions like this will only end badly and this community does not promote nor encourage bloodshed over something so simple as to "who bottoms in a Harry/Draco relationship". Should you really want to discuss something like this, please do it within the boundaries of your own journal.)
3. Be polite! Mind your p's and q's (Remember your "please"-s and "thank you"-s).
Community Rules
1. Please hide large postings (normally, this refers to fic/art/multiple recs postings). All large posts or posts featuring multiple images must be placed behind an LJ-cut or the LJ-spoiler link.
2. Please tag your posts with the appropriate tags to help readers find what they like and filter what they don't. Should you need a new tag created because it isn't in the current list of tags, please contact one of the mods and we will make a new tag for you. Contact the mods here.
3. Please refrain from customizing fonts and colors (i.e. changing the font type and/or color) in your posts because sometimes these customizations will not display properly on certain journal styles and devices.
4. Please refrain from member-locking your posts, unless you have permission from at least one of the mods.
5. The Community's Masterlist of Bottom!Draco Recs is member-locked; please join the community to view it.
6. Please do not try to claim another author/artist’s work as your own. Plagiarism will not be tolerated and will result in permanent banning. If you put your name to someone else’s work you’ve plagiarized.
7. Please do not link to content located elsewhere that is already dead or is impossible to join (such as MIA authors / artists, etc). If you are linking to content located elsewhere, one must be able to access it at all times. If it is going to be locked or deleted at any point in the future, you must indicate as so in your post. Preferably, post it directly to the community.
8. Please do not post fic inquiries asking whether or not a particular fic you've found contains Bottom!Draco. These kinds of inquiries pretty much defeats the fic reccing process in this comm because there is a chance that the fic you asked after contains "Top!Draco" and as we all know, "Top!Draco" fics are NOT for this comm.
Suggestions and Complaints
1. Should you have any constructive suggestions to share with us, please feel free to do so via email to bottomdraco@gmail.com or contact us HERE and they should be rightfully titled "Suggestions" or something similar.
2. Feel free to report any violation of the rules to any of the mods immediately, with a link to the violation in question as proof. Petty finger-pointing without any proof will not be tolerated. All complaints must be filed via email to bottomdraco@gmail.com or contact us HERE and they should be rightfully titled "Complaints" or something similar.
Message from the Mods
We are simply your humble behind-the-scenes coordinators who would prefer quietly assisting and managing the community. We are not here to play the role of your police officers. When there is a need to inform or remind you of the rules or even to issue you a warning, we will do our best to be friendly, fair and polite about it. There may be times we'd probably missed something or make mistakes (we are only human after all), but we trust you to return the favor, afford us the benefit of the doubt and let us know politely when we do. Thank you.
Sincerely,
