Yeah even I admit it wasn't very believable at first until I went further in reading and (SPOILER!!!!!!) a discovery about Harry's parentage was uncovered that made the backlash he was getting from James (Lily simply ignored him) a bit more understandable.

I guess I should mentioned The Son of a Dark Lord has the Potter parents in a bit of a shady light but it unwinds in the end so I didn't mind.
