Hello Potter (and Malfoy!) fans!
The Harry Potter Alliance is currently in the Chase Community Giving contest on Facebook! We are competing against other charity organizations in the hope of winning $250,000.
The HPA is the real-world Dumbledore's Army. In the past few years, we have taken an out-of-the-box approach to the way non-profit organizations are run and have raised awareness to the human and civil rights issues of our day. Just a couple of our most recent projects include Accio Books, an annual book drive that in 2 years has raised more than 55,000 books that were distributed in Rwanda, the Mississippi Delta, and other communities around the U.S. The other recent project we led was a coalition of many fandoms to raise $123,000 dollars for Partners in Health. This money allowed 5 planes of medical equipment to be shipped to Haiti for earthquake relief.
We have done all this with virtually no funding - imagine what we can do WITH funding!
Here is all you have to do to help (this step requires a Facebook account):
1. Go to http://www.hpaftw.com or http://www.hpaforthewin.com
2. Click “Get started to vote” (the second green button, top right)
3. Allow Access and then click “Like”
4. Click “Vote now” (green button, top right)
5. Finally, get three of your friends to vote.
Please feel free to ask me any questions! Thank you so much!
