The only thing that made me hesitate to pick 'Yes' is the fact that this community contains adult materials. If we allow anon to comment, we might not know whether nonny's above the consenting age or not. Well, I don't know if it's relevant since we wouldn't know who the anon was, but it kind of bothers my conscience *lol*. If there were an anonymous saying "whee I'm actually thirteen years old and I'll be strolling this community" we might or might not get this community in a deep shit, because we could be the ones getting the blame (of opening comm with adult materials to public).
Um, that's just my two cents. I'm saying this because I've lied about my age before, joined communities that clearly stated I should be 18+ of age when I was still 16, and it bothered me a lot until at last I left those comms and joined back after my 18th birthday.
Maybe the anonymity offers some comfort to people. But, I don't know, I lean more toward no anonymous comment in this. *shrugs*
Bottom Draco Fest, when would posting for said fest be ideal?
For posting, I'm flexible. But for prompting and the time given for doing the submission, I picked Winter or Summer. I just feel comfortable doing fest thingies during holidays. :D
I don't know about your conscience, but as far as the community's concerned, it's technically fine as long as it's marked as containing explicit material in the comm settings. And non-anon folks can lie about their ages as well (as you're noting, I think).
So long as the comm is marked as "this journal contains explicit material" or whatever the phrasing is we should be fine because we cannot stop underage viewers from clicking and continuing on. When I was 14 I signed up at Adultfanfiction and just put in an older birthday to the username I used. So even if people have an account that clearly states their age, that age could be false. I don't want you to think I am making your point invalid or that I am like GO ANON (Because to be objective I didn't vote on the questions about the anons because honestly I don't care one way or another I want what the community wants) I just want you to know that either way underage readers COULD be reading at our comm whether we know it or not. I'd like to be optimistic and believe they are all telling the truth, but I cannot say for sure that they all are. If the anon thing happens we will do our best to keep this comm protected and will definitely be watching all anon comments to check for any "Hey I am (underage age here) and have been looking for this fic" Not that many people do that but some slip through.
Thank you for your concerns and opinions, we value them all!
