Title: Telling Snidget's Story
Author:
jm9001
Prompt: PROMPT #170
Adapted from: The New Normal
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Word Count: 9,188
Rating: T for language
Contains: Language on the shy side of rude, a dangerously adorable toddler, and just a wee bit of hating on Hufflepuffs, but only because they’re so easy to pick on.
Disclaimer: Harry Potter characters are the property of J.K. Rowling and Bloomsbury/Scholastic. No profit is being made, and no copyright infringement is intended.
Notes: So, this isn’t exactly what I expect you’d expect from an adaptation of The New Normal, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. It's a little bit sillier than I planned it to be, but I didn't want to force it in an angstier direction, so silliness is where it is at. My idea came from Brian’s intro/outro video to his future child in the pilot episode. Indefinite thanks to my stalwart beta, S, who begrudgingly reads everything I send her despite her opinion that I ship Harry with the wrong blond (as if, S), and who only poked me twice (and not as viciously as usual) for making fun of Hufflepuffs.
Summary: Draco tells his son the story of how he came to be, because sometimes the expression ‘it takes a village’ is a bit more literal than one would think.

Date: 2013-03-01 05:11 pm (UTC)I want to quote things, but I would have to quote the whole story. And seriously, I'm just about wordless right now. This is going on my rec list for the week, and I'm dropping recs at bestthingever and fancake over on DW, too. It is that wonderful. It's a fabulously funny story from beginning to end, and knowing the TV show only makes it doubly hysterical. Pansy as Rocky? OMG. Dying here. She is SPOT ON. I just... I want to wave my hands in the air and scream and flail because I'm out of words. FABULOUS. Perfect. Thank you for bringing to life this prompt in such an absolutely AMAZING way.

Date: 2013-03-01 06:34 pm (UTC)When I first read this, I giggled and cooed all the way through! It was soooo cute! When I'm done with it, I read it again. And again! With each time, it gets cuter and cuter! By the time I'm done reading it for the third time, I am irrevocably in love with Harry and Draco and their little family of three! It was perfectly adorable and insanely fluffy! Funny too! Like, absolutely hilarious! Your Pansy was beyond AWESOME and so was dear sweet little Lanny! Draco, Harry and Snidget were made of AWESOMENESS too! Seriously everything in this fic is soaked through with TEH FLUFF and that made the loveliest reading experience ever! Best, fluffiest laugh ever.... thank you so much for that!
P.S. Snidget has TEH AWESOME-EST NAME EVER!! *smirks*

Date: 2013-04-08 08:39 pm (UTC)I am ridiculously in love with their little family too... I have a soft melty spot in my grinchy little heart for Draco as a doting dad. :) I'm glad you loved Lanny. Writing her was fun, since she reminds me a bit of myself a kid: just the slightest bit odd, and wise beyond her years... Well, sort of :P

Date: 2013-03-03 03:36 am (UTC)However, I decided to give this one a try (thank Merlin for that) and it blew me out of the water.
Quite lovely, Draco was just the perfect touch of doting on Snidget and his hysterics and dramatics crack me up.
Thanks for sharing with us,
-Nate
