Fics with Sacrificial!Draco

I have a weakness for fics where Draco sacrifices himself for Harry, whether Harry is aware of his sacrifice or not. By "sacrifice", I mean Draco protecting Harry to the extent of some deep personal cost to himself.

Some examples of fic I have loved:

Draco standing between Harry and Voldemort
Eclipse by Mijan
Beneath You by Cinammon*

Draco standing between Harry and a curse

This might not be exactly what you had in mind. I'm thinking of "Full Spectrum" and "Shades of Grey" by olivia_lupin (aka lovely_slyth). It deals with the loss Draco feels when he breaks with his family, the indecision over his options, and his difficult initiation into the Order. Harry grudgingly agrees to work with Draco, and their relationship develops from there. The scene I had in mind particularly is in Part 1 of "Shades of Grey". When Harry breaks the news to Ron & Hermione that he and Draco are together, Draco stands (literally) between Harry and their rage.
The whole fic is a pretty good length (50K words), but it's beautifully written. "Shades of Grey" was originally written as a one-shot, so it stands perfectly well on its own. Part 1 is 4.5K.
You'll need to join olivia_lupin to read these, but it's open as long as you have an age statement in your profile.

Thanks! I love Olivia Lupin's works, but somehow I don't seem to re-read Full Spectrum and Shades of Grey, even though I love the rest of her series and one-shots to pieces. I'll have to head over and re-read it now!

I've read 3 of them and can tell u tht the first one is amazing! Doesn't have any sex in it so ur safe! The one by cinnammon and flimsy are both bottom harry(I found out the hard way my dear:'( and I was too paranoid to read the last one! Hope tht helps!

So sorry for the unexpected trauma! I'd honestly thought they were bottom!Draco, I must have suppressed the actual scene in my head and catalogued it based on how Draco was acting in the rest of the fic.

Sorry for the unexpected trauma!

I actually thought they were all bottom!Draco (as saved in my memory) but it's been so long since I read Beneath You, I didn't realise it was bottom!Harry. (The scene that I remember most clearly had sacrificial!Draco, and Harry was so dominant in that scene I'd just filed the whole fic away as bottom!Draco.)

Skimming through Renaissance, I realise it's bottom!Harry too, at the end. I must have suppressed that memory because the rest of the fic kept making me think it would be bottom!Draco.

Its ok! I thought it was bottomdraco too! I was suprised when it wasn't! Don't u hate when authors spring randomness on u! It was good though...I skipped the last couple of scenes! I only remember tht beneath u was bottom harry bcuz it ws literally the 1st drarry fanfic I read!:-P so dnt feel bad!

There's one that I really like it's called "A thousand beautiful things" by Duinn Fionn. It goes like this: Harry's victim of a very dark curse whose nature stays a mistery to everyone except Draco who decides to break it. I consider that the way to break it is a sacrifice in itself since Draco must in no way whatsoever communicate with anyone for a duration of six months... Hope it fits your search and that you like it as much as I did.
