Draco Malfoy is too young to fully comprehend the meaning of "forever"; to a child of nine, the concept of eternity can only signify the crisp, pearlescent snowflake-laden days leading up to the glorious bounty of Christmas, or the idyllic summer months with their incessant blue skies and golden sun, stretching out endlessly before him full of promise and excitement and play.
His father Lucius knows that forever means the time he will know what paternal devotion is, the time he will cherish the memory of pale newborn skin and the first soft strands of light hair that matches the pristine brightness of his own. Forever is for Lucius Malfoy the exquisite tenderness that wraps itself like bands of silver chain around his heart each time he sees his son, or hears the child's clear-toned voice. His Malfoy pride may bind him to restrain himself from displays of affection whilst in the public eye, but in the secluded safety that is Malfoy Manor Lucius bestows kiss after passionate kiss upon the slender hands and delicate, almost angelic face of his fair child. No kisses yet upon those flawless rosy lips, for Lucius knows that he must wait until forbidden yet irresistible rapturous desire begins to stir for itself within his son's young body, for mysterious longings to manifest themselves in the younger Malfoy's flesh and mind.
