Hi everyone. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Sing, writer of much stuff. I also play around with CG and support the lovely
lizardspots.
Slash pairings I fancy: Ron/Draco *my absolute favourite*, Lucius/Percy *don't look at me that way, I'm a pioneer, blast it! Just look at my icon*, Harry/Snape *on occasion*, Ron/Snape *mostly due to the lovely story Teaspoon from the Snape FQF*
Slash pairings I loathe: Harry/Draco *yes, I know it's akin to sacrilige, but I really despise this pairing. They just don't seem to have any chemistry to me. Don't try to change my mind, I already tried and it didn't work* Remus/Sirius *this one has chemistry, but it's so freaking fluffy 99% of the time that I can't stomach it. That and the fact that Remus must be heterosexual because he's mine and would be of no use to me gay. Meh! There are few stories with this pairing that appeal to me at all. And bottom!Lupin makes me retch.*
I'm about to attempt another slash story. I've only written one and it was pre-slash. That is, if you discount the dysfunctional Lucius/Percy relationship/side story in An Ideal Death Eater. But I found the FQF here and was delighted because it completely destroyed my writer's block.
Cheers,
Sing

Date: 2003-11-14 01:52 pm (UTC)i have to disagree with you on a few points. ^^;;;
first off (and i really hate to nitpick but ... well, no. i love to nitpick): i think ron would win in a duel. just cause it would end up getting sticky in there for at least a minute or two (i'm assuming this is a fair duel, where one didn't just pounce out at the other), and draco would be more likely to give it up, whereas ron has a sort of determination that draco lacks. as for the lack of knowledge in curses -- i think ron can hold his own. he probably knows quite a few curses that at least disable. your forgetting about his family -- discounting fred and george, bill is a curse breaker. i'm sure ron could hold his own.
second off: draco is not the villain to harry's hero. the only place where we know draco holds that much power is in his own head. draco has never been there when any of the really serious stuff has happened, nor has he really played that "evil" of a role. he seems more like a messenger boy for teh evil for me. *shrugs*

Date: 2003-11-14 07:22 pm (UTC)And of course Draco isn't the main villain, but he is *a* villain. So are Lucius and Snape. And the Death Eaters. Draco's just one Harry deals with face to face on a daily basis. And one who has the opertunity to do things Snape would probably like to because they're on the same level. But if you think about it, Tom Riddle is a bit of a perversion of Harry as well. Draco is, too.
But as far as *real* evil goes, I don't think cannon!Draco's come to terms with it yet. He's never seen anyone die, and I doubt highly he's been killing puppies with Avada Kedavra. I think he's just a suped up little bully who knows nothing about anything and is in for a rude awakening. It's what he does after the awakening that I'm interested in. I mean, if Draco saw Voldemort he'd probably pass out from fear. His parents apparently didn't raise him to be a stone cold dark wizard. He's not really even very good at being an aristocratic wizard. He's too emotive, and he often lacks subtley when he loses his temper, though I'm sure he practises a lot of his jibes in the mirror. The point is, anyway, that it will take a lot for Draco to become the main villain. It's one thing for a twelve year old to hope someone dies, but I don't even know if he understands what death really is. Once he grows up, he can want to kill things, or whatever, but he's not even evil at a pre-school level.

Date: 2003-11-15 05:15 pm (UTC)either his son would be trained at all available times to be an A class villain, armed with curses and hexes to his ears. or he would be basically ignored and left to his own devices. which means that all the curses he learned were on his own, or, perhaps, from snape. ei, serpensortia. or ... he'd be abused which i don't want to get into right now.
draco doesn't push himself. at all. if ron hurt him, i think he'd just be waiting for directions on what to do next.
i think the winner of the duel is pretty hard to predict, but money's on ron.
