My two favorite H/D stories are <a href="http://theguestroom.houseofhobbits.com/hp/sohw.html">The Shadow of his Wings</a> by Mirabella and <a href="http://inkandfakefurs.livejournal.com/tag/killing+moon>The Killing Moon</a>  by <lj user="inkandfakefurs"> (friendslocked). These are both WIP's, and it looks like they are not going to be finished soon, if ever. I was just contemplating this depressing fact and wondering if there are any stories out there that are similar to these two. If you haven't read the stories in question, some of the things they have in common are:

1) Harry is a bad-ass. I don't mean evil or even rude. I mean scarily competent.


2) Draco is not pathetic or a sex addict. He's intelligent, interesting and scarily competent in his own right.


3) There is a plot other than Harry and Draco's relationship and all the lovely sex they have. Action, adventure, duels and clever plot twists are welcome. (The Shadow of his Wings has the best H/D duel ever written, in my opinion).

I love epics, so the longer the better.

Timeline: This is an alternate ending to my fic Nothing as it Should Be It picks up in the middle of that fic and continues from there. Post Deathly Hallows and Pre 101.
Disclaimer: I own nothing related to QAF or HP.

Author's Notes: As I mentioned above, this is the alternate ending that many people asked for, however, it won't really make any sense unless you've read Nothing as It Should Be. You do not, however need to read the whole thing for this to make sense. Read up to Part 9 and then switch over to this version if you want.
