Title: Playing It By Ear

Summary: Drabble. Harry discovers the joys of doing things off the cuff.

Another blow landed, and this time it was enough to send Draco stumbling backwards, forcing him to land sprawled out on his back at the water’s edge.
Harry hadn’t been planning on guiding them in this direction, but as he saw his adversary land, he realised that this was perfect.
Taking the opportunity, he dived before Draco had a chance to do little more than blink and rolled with him across the floor, limbs flailing, until they were both soaked and submerged in about eight inches of water.
“Potter, What are y….”
The rest of Draco’s speech consisted of bubbles and gurgles as Harry grabbed his hair and forced his head under the water. Instantly the blonds arms began thrashing about in a frantic attempt to resurface. He had taken no breath before going under and had been given no warning.
Harry simply smirked and pulled him back up briefly before pushing him below the lake’s surface once again. He had no plan, the fight had been spontaneous and so he decided that he would let it roll off the cuff until there was a winner or they were both too tired to fight anymore.
Realising Draco had been under the water for nearly a minute, he decided to let him take another breath.
His lips had locked onto his enemy’s before he realised just what he was doing. And as he blew his freshly taken breath of air into Draco’s oxygen starved lungs, and felt the tip of a very confident tongue trace against his bottom lip, he realised that playing it by ear did sometimes have it’s advantages.
