Author's Notes: I've had to mix things around quite a bit to make my vision of the prompt fit into JKR's world. While I've tried to stay close to canon, I have tweaked some things and outright changed others to make the fic work. In the end, I'm happy with it, and I hope you enjoy it too. :D The title translates loosely to 'Sorrow suspended,' and the cut text means 'if this be my lot.' I used Gaelic translations, as inspired by the roots of the fable.

OK! Wow! What an epic - totally loved it. Draco for all he went through for 5 years he is so sweet and innocent with a child like enthusiasm for everything - especially when he went to the muggle world and Harry was just wonderful. Great story. :)

I have to agree with serilla: this was epic!

You have created a wonderful tale and your characters are genuine and likeable! I liked that your Draco shows Slytherin cunning even though he never went to Hogwarts and at the same time there is something innocent and adorable about him when it comes to Harry and his attraction (love) to him.

I also liked your Harry: “Professor you...you're here,” Harry stammered. Draco rolled his eyes. He loved Harry, he was brave and strong and determined and kind and funny but...still a bit of a twat.
Gosh, that sentence captures the very essence of Harry (well, at least of MY Harry-Prototype)! :D

You've described the whole development of their relationship and the growing sexuality in a realistic and satisfying way. Their growing desire and love for each other was heartwarming and sometimes even very funny.

I also loved your Ron and Hermione and how Draco still had problems with Ron (even without having known him for years). Oh, and I really liked the way you combined cannon with fiction (like the parts about how Harry and Draco met in their first and second school years).

It's a long story (which deserves a long comment) with good pacing and plot.

A really exciting and delightful read!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS! The strength of Harry and Draco's love for one another was perfect. The way that they felt through the relationship without Dumbledore telling them straight out that they were destined to bond was an added plus that changed everything for the better.

All the little ways that the two of them showed their love to each other was so sweet...and I love how you added the reluctant-to-accept-Draco!Ron which I think stands very true to his character. That he later accepts Draco is even better because I hate fics that have Harry and Ron splitting ways because Ron can't accept Draco.

So overall, yes, THIS FIC IS THE BOMB. *dances*

i have to admit i was reluctant to read this after i saw what prompt you took on. however, i am glad i did read it. that was one epic story with well-developed characters, very vivid descriptions, believable relationship progression, and wonderful take on canon HP and mythology. liked draco's innocence and harry's indulgence, ron's impulsiveness and hermione's reasonableness, riddle's malevolence and lucius' love for his family. i liked that even the peripheral characters were given time to build multi-layered characterizations. a few grammatical and spelling errors here and there, though. :D

ps. for all of draco's ignorance of the outside, he was still obviously a slytehrin through and through. loved it. :D

I also didn't read this at first, because the prompt made it seem unlikely to have a happy ending, and I *hate* stories without happy endings. But since I saw a comment mentioning that there IS a happy ending, I thought I'd give it a try after all, and I'm very glad I did! I particularly liked the detail of Draco having dreamed of Harry his whole life, but the amendments to canon were very well done. Thank you.

Wow. I was very much looking forward to seeing what someone would do with this idea, but I wasn't expecting nearly 70k...

You've definitely done the story justice. I love all the little details you took from the original story, and that you spent so much time on the differences between this timeline and the original.

It's eerie, thinking of Tom striding around the wizarding world for two extra years, but I can definitely imagine him doing it at the expense of poor Ginny--and poor Draco, too.

Sorry that it took me so long, but between writing my own fics and preparing for Nano, I've had to read this in bits and pieces. Very well done, and I can't wait to find out who you are! :D

Parts of it popped into my head before I had even claimed it (like the first scene) and other parts I had to think hard about, but in the end it came together beautifully, I thought. I'm thrilled to see that others thought so too. :D
