Dear members, avid watchers, lovers, fangirls, and/or fanboys of Bottom!Draco, the mods of Bottom!Draco are stoked to announce the commencement of the
2nd Annual Bottom!Draco Fest ♥ ♥ ♥
Based on a recent poll's results, the theme chosen for this fest is TIME. This encompasses anything that relates to time, so historical time periods, time travel, time periods dictated in books/literature/classics, Marauders' generation, Dumbledore's generation, Tom Riddle's generation, time in parallel worlds, the lack of time, characters in their 20s, 30s, 40s, even 100s, and many more are ALL welcomed. This is a very general theme, so we hope that this will open up a lot of room for your creativity to kick in!
One more thing: just because our theme is time does not mean you can't include other things in your fics/art, like kink, cliches, AU, etc. ;)
Fest Schedule
May 20 – June 4: Prompt Collection
June 5 – June 20: Open Sign-ups & Prompt Claiming (first come, first served)
June 21: All assignments sent out by this day
August 15th: Participants must email us to let us know where you are with your fics/art or we WILL hunt you down! XD
September 27th: Extension requests for early deadline participants must be sent in to the mods by this date
Oct 1st: Early deadline
Oct 13th: Extension requests must be sent in to mods by this date
Oct 16: All assignments due
Oct 30th: All extensions due
November 6th: POSTING BEGINS!
Rules
This will be the timeline of our fest this year. As you can see, we have decided to extend your writing/drawing period, as we had to give out an alarming amount of extensions last year (and because the lack of/delayed responses gave us mods premature gray hair, and between RL and the fest, we are unwilling to go through all that stress again).
Consequently, the rules are stricter this time around:
- If you are one of the participants who flaked out last year without contacting us, nor responded to our multiple emails inquiring after your whereabouts/interest in participating still, you will NOT be able to participate this year. Now, we know this is harsh, so we are going to give you a second chance: If you still want to join the fun, you can email us explaining what the heck happened last year and we will decide your fate :)
- If you are one of the drop-outs last year who DID contact us to let us know, you will have an EARLIER DEADLINE. You will have to send in your work by Oct. 1st. If there are extenuating circumstances that will prevent you from turning in your submissions by this time, we're going to need you to email us at least THREE days prior to Oct. 1st if you want to request an extension. Otherwise, participants who have not turned in your work by this date will be considered drop-outs and will not be able to participate.
- Anyone who doesn't fall under 1 & 2 who will require extensions will need to email us at least THREE days prior to your deadline, Oct. 16th. Even if you think you're just going to need another day to complete your fic/art, you're going to have to email us anyway.
- We will be checking up on you guys around mid-fest period. We'd rather not do this, but since we had some participants last year claiming to have forgotten that they signed up for the fest, we feel that this measure might be necessary!
- On a lighter note, because of some confusion about prompt claiming last year, we're going to send out all assignments when claiming is settling down, so you might not get your prompt until three or four days later. All assignments will be sent out by June 21.
We know this is a lot to take in, but please understand that while we try to make this a low-pressure, uberfun fest for you guys, we might be experiencing more stress than we'd like. So for everyone's sake, we hope you guys are amenable to these rules. If you have any concerns, please feel free to state them. :)
Story/Art Requirements
This is an anon, prompt-based fest. This means that once prompt collection is open on May 20 (mark your calendar!), everyone can submit prompts, even if you're not going to participate, and you can submit as many as you want, because there is NO limit on the number of prompts you can submit! Hurrah!
More information will be provided once prompt collection is open!
As the title suggests, ONLY Bottom!Draco is allowed. Now what the heck does that mean, exactly? According to the community's RULES (which we're sure everyone has read XD), this means that if your fic/art is R-rated or NC-17, we're going to need your Draco to be the one getting it up his perky bottom! Everything else is up to your discretion and creativity! If you turn in a top!Draco fic/art (*shudders*), we WILL return it to you along with some very strong words, because it would be quite clear you hadn't read our rules. We know that everyone's threshold for tolerating top!Draco differs, but please respect the theme of this community!
All stories and art must be based off the prompt claimed by the writer/artist, while keeping in mind the theme of time.
Fiction: Stories should be at least 1000 words long, thoroughly beta-read (we will need the name of your beta(s) in the story header, though it will be redacted to keep your identity anon until the end of the fest), and have all HTML tags included. We sometimes read through the fics when they're sent in, and if we see that there are errors, we will return your fic for you to re-edit.
Art: This should show evidence of at least an hour’s work and be in JPG or PNG format. All forms and types of media are welcomed.
Neither stories nor art may be posted anywhere else before the conclusion of the fest.
There are no restrictions on rating or genre. Harry/Draco is, of course, welcome, but other Draco-centric pairings are particularly encouraged. Let's spread the love!
Extra stuff
This year, there is NO restriction on the number of artists or writers we will be accepting for this fest. As we see it, the more bottom!Draco love, the better!
Once posting begins, all fest submissions will be posted to the bottom!Draco community under the tag 'fest-2010', as opposed to posting to another website like last year.
We will also be keeping a link to this fest rules entry on the VERY top of the community until the fest is over, in order to increase accessibility and decrease confusion in regards to finding rules, guidelines, and dates (even though there is a button on the right side-bar of the comm that says 'fest rules'...).
Most importantly: we have switched to a different email account, so please send all your concerns, inquiries, comments, Howlers, compliments, etc to: bottomdraco@gmail.com.
And of course, we could never stress enough the importance of LOOKING THROUGH OUR TAGS in order to find any entries pertaining to the fest. They are clearly marked as we are very obsessive about our tagging system, so make sure to do that before throwing things at us for confusing you.
