"A Season in Hell", by Cassandra Claire. Does anyone have a saved copy they can send me? All links appear to be down. I'm not going to be able to go to the midnight showing of HP7 tonight and could really use some Harry/Draco to cheer me up.

Date: 2010-11-19 09:46 am (UTC)Furthermore, I don't know what version of livejournal you're using, but mine makes it very simple to send a personal message requesting an email address. Perhaps we simply have different definitions of 'hard work'?
Oh, and 'natch'? Ur doin it wrong.

Date: 2010-11-19 10:44 am (UTC)Sometimes fans just want, regardless. Everyone has been there. Most people who ask for fic that's been removed from pubic access provide their e-mail address in their request and then modify the request to indicate the fic has been received when they obtain it. Sometimes people even delete the request after they get the fic. Yes, it's a compromise. No, it's not ideal.
But having gone there (and everyone has at least once)- yes, you are making it unnecessarily harder by not proving an e-mail address with your request. See: person who went through the trouble of uploading the fic you wanted because you didn't provide your e-mail upfront.

Date: 2010-11-19 10:56 am (UTC)I would have used the download (and, as you see, another user has already used it) had someone else not gone through the MASSIVE TROUBLE of pm'ing me to ask for my email address. As for said email address, no, it isn't something I crosspost to a bunch of communities full of total strangers, some of who may be spambots or serial killers for all I know. Serial killers with the technological proficiency to track me down via my email address. If the person who pm'd me turns out to be a serial killer I will at least know that zie is a fellow fan.
In conclusion, this entire silly interaction reeks of you trying to pick a fight. Why so butthurt?

Date: 2010-11-19 11:27 am (UTC)The upload is a good idea, it prevents tons of people from also requesting the fic. An anonymous post with the upload would be better, but I'm not sure anonymous posting is allowed in this particular journal.
If you're protective of your identity, I can sympathize with that. But don't make people click on your user profile to get your e-mail. Just state it upfront, with the caveat that the reason you want people to PM you is because you are protecting your RL identity.
*shrugs* I'm critical, you're entitled.
