can you guys tell me what is the different between Drarry and Harco?

first, i think drarry and harco is the same. but when my friend tell said " yes, i like harry and draco but i dont like harco. i like drarry, i like top!draco' she said drarry is top!draco and harco is top!harry

soo.. is it really different? if yes, then authors who write "pairing: harry/draco" in their fic.. the top one is harry? but... sometimes "harry/draco" draco can be top. and "draco/harry" harry can be top.

so, how do we know if the fic is b!draco?

um.. sory for my bad english and if i make you confused.. its hard to explain..
and thanks before :)

unfortunately for us bottom!draco fans harry/draco doesn't always mean top!harry

- you can always ask on bottom_draco and the members will help you , since if the author doesn't say who tops and who bottoms you can't know unless you actually read the fic

-some authors mention in the beginning if there is bottom!draco or not but you can't trust the harry/draco , draco/harry thing since it is not an actual rule :(

I hope this helps , and don't hesitate to ask for help :D

I think listing the dominant partner first is a convention in anime/yaoi fandoms. It's not conventional in slash fandoms such as H/D, although some people use it. What it boils down to is that you can't rely on name order to tell you who bottoms.

WARNING: My English is poor and limited.

Three important points.

1. Usually, when you write a pairing it's Top/Bottom. In that order. It is still true in the anime fandoms and some slash fandoms like this one.

2. The word "Drarry" means that Harry and Draco are together but it may be B!Harry or B!Draco. The word just indicates you that they are or will be an item in the fanwork. Just that. You'll have to read the fic/summary/warnings or just know the preferences of the writer to know who will be bottoming, topping or if there will be switching.

3. Then along came the kinkmemes. They introduced the alphabetizing pairings thing. Let me explain with an example: Inception. This fandom has a very strong kinkmeme. The popular slash pairing there it's Arthur/Eames. The posting it's usually in that order even if Top!Eames is a favourite. There is still people that posted it like Eames/Arthur but it's hardly used.

I hope this helps you. The word Harco is not of massive use and really, I think if it exists at all is because if this where some anime fandom then we'd be using both terms. Like [livejournal.com profile] isoldam said, the anime fandoms seems to be more set on the order of the names to determine who bottoms and who tops but then again, drarry here just means the pairing, nothing more.

Take care! :D

Harry/Draco has pretty much always meant that the main pairing is Harry/Draco. I've never heard the term "Harco". Where the hell did that come from? I've been in HP fandom for 8 years and never heard or seen that term.

Harry usually comes first in the pairing because he is the lead character of the series. It has nothing whatsoever to do with who tops. Most people don't even list who tops, because Drarry fans mostly don't care. You will find some fics where the author states that Harry is the bottom. And there are certain authors that have Draco bottom most of the time. The bulk of fics, at least that I've read (hundreds!) usually feature switching.

This is because the difference between Asia and American, Europe. With yaoi manga or danmei of Chinese, the authors always have a top and a bottom clearly, not much switching. So if you're a fan of yaoi and danmei first, you'll be used to discern top and bottom like that (Harry/Draco or Draco/Harry).
