Title: A Harp, A Shadow, The Wind
Author:
lomonaaeren
Prompt: 71, Thomas the Rhymer
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco
Summary: Draco was kidnapped, his shadow stolen away, his ability to lie also taken. Harry and Draco adventure through poetry, through time, and through darkness to win both of them back
Rating: R
Disclaimer: These characters are the property of J. K. Rowling and associates. I make no claim to them.
Warning(s): Non-graphic sex, angst, foul language. This story takes place after DH, but doesn't take notice of the epilogue. Also, this is non-linear like hell and plays games with points of view.
Word Count: ~10,000
Author's Notes: Thank you very much to my friend L. for the beta. I think I incorporated most of the prompt, but unfortunately I had to leave out the prophecy and the request for Bill/Draco. Also, this is very loosely based on the fairy tale itself; I went for fairy-tale strangeness rather than the exact circumstances of the original story. However, thank you very much to my promptee for the "focus on how it happened" part, because that gave me my plot. And the rhyming couplets!

Date: 2009-10-31 05:30 am (UTC)the vividness with which you described falling into the abyss of darkness made me feel as if i were going through the same thing, and it was not pleasant. i congratulate you for communicating such loss, confusion and fear so well. the poetic language added to the flair, drama, and darkness of the whole fic.
i loved how draco's choice pushed the fic into a wonderful climactic end that resulted in a very promising start of what could be a wonderful relationship but without claiming a happily ever after. :D
