[identity profile] alllifestyles10.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] bottom_draco
Recently, I have clicked on two stories that I found in fic searches from this BOTTOM!draco community and both of them had top!draco in them. If someone is searching for a fic and it is top!draco, please, when you post the link say that it has switching or top!draco involved. I am thoroughly traumatized. Just a reminder, SPECIFY WHETHER IT IS TOP!DRACO OR SWITCHING WHEN POSTING THE LINK!

Although, it can be a fine line between a "battleground" and a productive discussion. I'd hate for people to never address something they didn't like or express support for something they did simply to maintain the peace and "safe haven" of fandom. This post's discussion certainly got testy at times, but I think people got to air, debate, and understand (to varying degrees) their differing opinions, and even mods are taking part and considering their approach to the comm.

I guess I just wanted to say that, to me, "save haven" means open to discussion.

I feel that a battleground and open discussion are two different things. I'm sorry you felt that I was putting them under the same definition. I must have been vague.

I think it was the term "safe haven" that struck me more, but it may be because I've been seeing it or something similar around in discussions and it's been on my mind, so I'm likely bringing that to this discussion, for better or worse. :)

Hence why this thread was left open. :)

It's good for us to hear from the members even if it's negative things so we know what we need to improve or change.

I'm glad you left it open! I'm sure it's very tricky, and there are some people who want any negative comments immediately frozen, etc., but I happen to think (and I know this isn't necessarily a popular opinion and might seem strange given comments I made earlier in the post) that discomfort/unease can be a good thing if it's part of an open discussion. Silencing people is much worse, IMO.
